Follow these six simple steps for accurate window measurements
You'll need a steel tape measure (not cloth), a pencil, and paper to record measurements. A step stool may be helpful for high windows.
Inside mount fits within the window frame for a clean look. Outside mount covers the frame and can make windows appear larger.
For inside mount: measure the inside width at top, middle, and bottom. Use the smallest measurement. For outside mount: measure the total area you want covered.
For inside mount: measure from the inside top to the sill at left, center, and right. Use the longest measurement. For outside mount: measure from where you want the headrail to where you want the bottom.
For inside mount, measure the window frame depth. Most blinds require at least 1" for flush mount or 2" for full recess.
Measure twice, order once! Verify all measurements before submitting. Remember: you provide exact measurements, we make the blinds to fit.
Cloth tape measures can stretch and give inaccurate readings. Steel tape measures provide precise measurements every time.
Even windows that look identical can vary in size. Always measure each window individually for the best fit.
For inside mounts, it's better to round down to the nearest 1/8". This ensures your blinds will fit without binding.
Check for handles, locks, or other hardware that might interfere with your blinds' operation.
